The arbor was removed to allow the sky and trees in. The gravel patio, that tracked into the house with every visit to the garden, was removed. The free standing BBQ was replaced with an outdoor cabinet/counter and grill. The vegetable box, located in the darkest corner of the garden, was removed and relocated to a bright and sunny side yard.
The folding glass wall is protected during early stages of construction and demolition.
The special decking material was to be delivered several weeks out. During this time we covered the deck framing temporarily with ply and continued work on the grill/cabinet, stucco planters, fountain and tile.
Green Alchemy is very fortunate to work with LBM Electrical. Here, Leo installs the electrical ignition for the grill, a switch for the fountain and an exterior outlet. Thanks Leo!
The counter top for the grill cabinet was fabricated and installed by Sullivan Countertops Inc. in Oakland. Sullivan was great, from the sales rep up front to the fabricators in back to the guys who came to do the install. Great job everyone!
The decking is Resysta, a natural fiber-polymer-composite that is rice hull based. A beautiful product to work with and to live with.
